My first KitchenAid processor was made in France in the 1970's and worked great until I needed to replace the work bowl recently. There were no parts available for that model so my husband bought me a cheaper brand. It started to malfunctional after about six months. I tried to do without but missed it too much. I saw the best price at Amazon and went for it. I am glad I did. I love the new model and it appears to be made just as well with added features. You just can't beat a quality product.

This is a very good appliance. The first time I have a KitchenAid and I like it, It works fine and is very quiet, compared to my little Magic bullet which sounds like a tornado and with a lot less power than the KitchenAid. In general I am please with the results except one time I wanted to make grated cheese with mozzarella, better dont try it. It doesn't work. Buy instead grated cheese in the Grocery store.
I has a lot of accessories so if you don't like it. I saw a new Cuisinart food processor that simplify the accessories in fewer and simpler components. I am not sure about how good is this new Cuisinart food processor but I saw it had better features than the KitchenAid Food Proccesor.
I like the small bowl for smaller jobs because you don't have to clean the whole unit. It works fine and do its job nevertheless you have to plan the use if you don't want to do a lot of dishes.

I got this food processor as a gift. I was so excited after watching all the cooking shows on tv making all these things with their processors.
1st Use: making pie/pastry dough
Result: The processor sent flour flying everywhere (yes, the lid was snapped securely into place!). I don't think my 6 year old could have made a bigger mess. Major clean-up required.
2nd Use: chopping veggies for soup
Result: Worked fine, lots of pieces and parts to clean
3rd Use: juicing grapefruit
Result: Whole lot of mess compared to the amount of juice I got. But the novelty of the citrus juicer was kinda fun.
Cleanup after 3rd use --- noticed the entire handle of the bowl (the main part!) is disintegrating. I've been very careful (haven't bumped, dropped or anything like that). I can't believe it's already breaking!
WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! I'm very disappointed in the poor quality of this product.

I found the large mouth on top and plunger a little awkward to use. In the essence of safety the plunger has to be inserted precisly into the vertical shaft. When doing a large amount of slicing it presents a cumbersome achievement. I would like to have an 8MM slicing disk but Kitchen Aid, said they have no plans to bring one to market. I wish I had taken a closer look at the Cuisinarts espcially the ones with an 8MM slicing disk.

I've had this for three years now and it's never given me any problems. I had KitchenAid's small 5-cup food processor for just over a year and then it suddenly broke and would have been more expensive to fix than to buy a new one. So I chose to buy a new larger one in the hope that it would be better made. And it is! It works very well. It's large capacity is great and I love all the attachments (grater, slicer, different blades, etc.) and the smaller bowl that fits into the top for smaller jobs and has a smaller blade. The only thing that I would like to change about it is that the bowl/lid's plastic isn't thick enough for me. I'd like to see it thicker and little more sturdy.
